About the person holding the pen
My name is Mina, and for a long time my job was to disappear. I sat in booths and at the corners of dinner tables, carrying meaning from one language into another without letting my own voice show. It taught me patience, and it taught me something I did not expect: most of what people feel lives in the small words, the ones that are easy to skip. A sentence ending, an honorific, a rising tone at the last second. Those are where the warmth hides.
Blush in Translation is built for people who flirt softly. If you prefer a lingering look to a grand gesture, if you would sooner leave a sentence slightly unfinished than shout it, you are who I am writing for. Every post here covers phrases from Japanese, Korean and Mandarin, and every phrase comes with a tone guide: polite, playful or intimate. That way you know whether a line is a handshake, a wink or a hand held a little longer than necessary.
I should be honest about a few things. I am a careful writer, not a native authority on every dialect, so I will tell you when a line is regional or when speakers disagree. When I mention TheFriend, it is as a place where you can hear these phrases spoken aloud by AI characters, Mei, Sakura and Kaori among them, and where you can practise a conversation or follow a story. They are AI characters, not people, and I will never pretend otherwise. They are good company for rehearsing a nervous sentence, though.
